Recipe for Success is a Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education (SNAP-Ed) Implementing Agency funded by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) through the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS). Housed in the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) Department of Anthropology, we work with community partners to provide nutrition, health, cooking, meal planning and gardening educational programs to low-income, SNAP-receiving, and SNAP-eligible households and communities in the greater Piedmont Triad area. Our partners include Title 1 Public Schools, youth education centers, senior centers, public libraries and residential communities. Our curricula and programs focus on health and wellness by providing developmental, self-sustaining food skills and knowledge. Our nutrition educators work with both children and adults through interactive lessons, workshops, cooking demonstrations, food sampling, and information dissemination at local health events or farmer’s markets.
