Disciplinary Honors Guidelines

Anthropology – Disciplinary Honors Requirements

DH Requirements:

• UNCG GPA of 3.30 or higher at graduation
• At least 15 s.h. of Honors course work with grade of B or better as follows:
  • Minimum of 6 s.h. Honors course work in Anthropology
  • Maximum of 3 s.h. other Honors course work (may be in ATY)
  • ATY 493 (for 3 to 6 s.h., needs to be taken before HSS 490, in two different semesters)
  • HSS 490:  Senior Honors Project* (3 s.h.)

ATY 495 cannot be contracted for Honors credit to complete a Disciplinary Honors Contract, to graduate with International Honors or with Full-University Honors.

*Working with a faculty mentor, a senior honors project (HSS 490) needs to consist of a 10,000 word thesis (or higher depending on the topic and size of the dataset) or a publishable paper (excluding title page and bibliography).
